Flower Parade Rijnsburg


One of the Netherlands’s oldest flower parades, the Flower Parade Rijnsburg runs every year on the 2nd Saturday of August, drawing over 350,000 visitors as 12 floats and music bands make their way through various towns in South Holland.

Artis Summer Nights


In June, July and August, ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo will be open every Saturday until sunset.

There will be workshops for children and performances by famous artists and emerging musicians.

Picnic in the grass or order a pizza from our outdoor kitchen. Learn how to make your own compost with the bokashi method or listen to stories about cycles in nature. The evening concludes with a special guided tour of the park at twilight. Off to ARTIS!

The Complete Quentin Tarantino


Entire month of August, various dates (ongoing since July)

To celebrate the upcoming release of Quentin Tarantino’s latest – and penultimate – film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, LAB 111, in collaboration with KINO Rotterdam, will be screening the American cult director’s entire works this summer, including collaborations with other directors such as Robert Rodriguez, Tony Scott and Oliver Stone.

Comedytrain International Summer Festival 2019: Week 5 & 6


Thursday, August 1 – August 10 (ongoing since July)

For six weeks in a row, Toomler will be presenting two international comedians selected by their own in-house Comedytrain comedians as part of the annual International Stand-Up Comedy Festival. Our expat group has attended Toomler comedy shows several times in the past and always have a great time. Taking place in an air-conditioned theatre where drinks and snacks are served right at your table, you can enjoy the entire show without once leaving your seat!

Grachtenfestival (Canal Festival)


The Grachtenfestival is a ten-day festival in Amsterdam that yearly takes place in August on and around Amsterdam’s canals. From classical music, jazz, and music from other cultures, enjoy 250 concerts at 90 different locations.

Drijf-in Cinema (Floating cinema)


This is for fans of the Outdoor Cinema experience. Now you can get out on a boat with your friends, park your boat behind a huge screen at the NDSM and watch a movie with other fellow boaters by the water.

This is the second year a ‘Drijf-in Cinema’ concept is organized. The event will be screening two movies shot in Amsterdam on location – AMSTERDAMNED [1988] and THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD [2017]. Buying a ticket gets you a parking spot for your boat. It works out to about €15 per person.

NEMO Zomerdak – Muziek op het dak (music on the roof garden of the NEMO Science Museum)


From June 21 June to September 5, the roof terrace of the NEMO Science Museum is open daily until 9 p.m. There is live music on the roof every Thursday evening. The roof is accessible to everyone free of charge via the stairs from the street or via the elevator in the entrance hall of NEMO.
